MetroMed: a chatbot for evaluating online health information

The MetroMed project was created to help assess the reliability of health information found online, in a context characterized by the widespread availability of health-related content of varying quality, not always grounded in scientific evidence.

The goal is to develop an artificial intelligence–based chatbot capable of analyzing health-related articles from URLs or user-provided text, and delivering a structured evaluation of the information’s reliability. This assessment is based on a set of criteria derived from scientific literature and established editorial and medical-scientific standards.

The tool is designed to support and enhance users’ critical thinking.

MetroMed aims to combine:

● scientific rigor and methodological transparency;
● user-centered design and clarity of evaluation;
● public value and potential for future research developments.
