ASSET: Communicating Pandemics

ASSET (Action plan in Science in Society in Epidemics and Total pandemics) is a 48-month European project based on the principles of mobilisation and mutual learning (Mobilisation and Mutual Learning). Its aims are to:

build a partnership with a shared vision on the management of communication during pandemics
describe the main social dynamics related to pandemics
identify participatory strategies
develop a sustainable action plan
identify the conditions necessary to ensure the continuation of the project after the planned 48 months.

The project adopts a multidisciplinary approach, combining public health issues—such as vaccination and epidemiological research—with the social and political sciences, law, ethics, gender studies, and science communication.

Zadig took part in many of ASSET’s activities as a work package leader or task leader. In particular, it delivered:

the project support infrastructure and the project website;
continuous updating of content and communication outputs;
the project branding and communication strategy;
media relations;
a general taxonomy on ethics and law, and on the implications that pandemics and epidemics may have for fundamental rights;
a description of the concepts of Mobilisation and Mutual Learning in an Action Plan Handbook;
social media analysis and mobilisation;
an independent evaluation of the methodology and work carried out within the project;
an event open to external stakeholders, during which concrete ways to pursue and implement the planned activities were identified.
