This infographic was produced by Zadig within the European Horizon 2020 project ORCHESTRA to illustrate a new study on post-COVID-19 syndrome, published in the journal eClinical Medicine.
The research will support the design of new clinical studies aimed at investigating pathogenesis and identifying individuals at high risk to be included in studies on the treatment and management of the syndrome.

The study results, entitled “Clinical phenotypes and quality of life to define post-COVID-19 syndrome: a cluster analysis of the multinational, prospective ORCHESTRA cohort”, made it possible to identify severe long COVID 12 months after acute infection, characterised by the persistence of respiratory symptoms associated with chronic fatigue and pain. The findings show that quality of life in these patients is severely impaired, and that women have a threefold higher risk than men of developing severe long COVID.

Vaccination plays a key role, as it reduces the likelihood of developing chronic fatigue, chronic pain and severe long COVID.
