CIRCE is a program funded by the Sixth Framework Programme of the European Commission to investigate the climatic impact in the Mediterranean area.
The program groups together the natural science and social science communities into a new integrated global model in order to:
predict and quantify the physical impact of climatic changes in the Mediterranean area;
evaluate the consequences of climatic changes on Mediterranean populations’ societies and economics;
develop an integrated approach in order to understand the combined effects of climatic change;
identify adaptation and mitigation strategies in collaboration with the involved stakeholders
The project will investigate the global and Mediterranean climates interactions, the variations of radioactive flux in the atmosphere and its characteristics, the clouds-aerosol interaction and the water cycle modifications.
Besides, economics and social consequences due to climatic changes will be examined, analysing the direct impact on migration, on tourism and energetic market and the indirect impact on economic systems.
Through CIRCE consequences on agriculture, forests and ecosystems, on human health and air quality will be investigated.
The project will develop and utilize in collaboration with the stakeholders a rigorous model constituted by quantitative indicators specific to the Mediterranean environment. 
The results will be used to define a support system, together with mitigation and adaptation strategies.

Zadig leads the operative unit dedicated to dissemination, whose tasks include: international communication, press agency, website (including layout and supervision), newsletter, multimedia material and publishing products.
